The Fitzwilliam Museum is the art museum of the University of Cambridge. Created from beneficent bequests and astute purchases in the 19th and 20th centuries, the museum has one of the finest collections of paintings in Britain. Rich in works by Italian and Dutch Old Masters, it also has fine examples of British and French 19th and 20th century works. This catalogue, part of the county-by-county Oil Paintings in Public Ownership series, is dedicated to this one collection and contains 1570 works.
