This Derbyshire volume includes some 1,000 paintings from publicly owned collections throughout the county. Revealing paintings both on display and in store, the works range from eighteenth century paintings by Joseph Wright of Derby to contemporary pieces. The catalogue gives a valuable insight into Derbyshire’s artistic and industrial heritage. Major collections shown include those from Derbyshire County Council and Derby City Council. Also included are paintings in Buxton Museum and Art Gallery, Chesterfield Museum & Art Gallery, Derby Museums and Art Gallery and the School Library Service as well as works from smaller local authorities, heritage centres, a school and a hospital.
